Bridge (something from my heart)

When I was 5, they told me : "Your English is good, you should be a translator."
When I was 8 : "You should be a bridge between 2 cultures", when I barely knew one, and thought Disney created Mulan.
When I was 13, my parents got divorced. "You're the bridge between 2 families", as if the gap wasn't there before I was born.
When I was 21 : "You're going to France, remember, you represent your culture."
No one asked me if I was about to drown, before asking me to be the bridge.
At 15, I found comfort in dystopian novels. "To not be dictated what to do by the system, you have to break the system."
At 28, I would still burn the bridge myself, if I want to not just survive, but thrive.
